Someone has been able to get their hands on a working model of the new BlackBerry smartphone in all its glossy black glory. It still has the characteristic SureType (two letters to a key) keyboard of the Pearl lineup, but the “Pearl” trackball has been replaced by the trackpad used on all the new BlackBerry devices. The Pearl 9100 has been a little more than just a rumor, but the new shots give us a good indication that this phone is indeed for real and could possibly be headed to the West.
The display looks a fair bit bigger than what we’ve normally found in the Pearl series up until now. Other highlights and features include 3G connectivity, integrated Wi-Fi, a built-in 3MP camera with LED flash, and dedicated media keys on the top of the device. You can also see the mention of EDGE on the demo unit, so this is either a GSM phone or a CDMA phone with GSM world capabilities, we shall soon find out.
